Instead of looking for ways to make their powerful engine more powerful, Lamborghini engineers and designers believe that performance gains can be achieved by reducing the weight of the vehicle and using lightweight materials.

The top executive of the Italian car maker explains that the current market and policy makers are very conscious how the added acceleration will mean more fuel consumption. This also translates to more CO2 emissions.

Lamborghini is also foreseeing governments of different countries will be imposing stricter green rules which could restrict the development of their engines so their funds for research and development will zoom in on how they can surgically reduce the weight of the car for a better super car performance.

The head of R&D of Lamborghini explains that the need for speed will be limited by aerodynamic resistance. Further he explained that there will be a declining efficiency in performance when a car tries to go over 211 mph. One should also take note that there are only a few places where one can zoom at that speed. Acceleration will be key and decreasing the car’s weight is key.

The designers will be using composite materials that will be used on the right places, provide the needed stiffness, cost, and characteristics. Instead of the usual Lambo high strength steel, they will be suing more of carbon fiber and aluminum.

The plan seems to be working with the redesigned Murcielago LP670-4 SV which gained 30 horsepower by shedding off about 220 pounds off its body. Now it is a 670 horsepower charging bull.

Lamborghini is also looking into using a start-stop system to decrease emissions especially during city driving, which could also help with fuel efficiency, if the Lambo people even care about that…

The new Infiniti M is looks more luxurious, more spacious, and comes packed with more advanced features.

Infiniti recently released the official numbers for the fuel economy of the new sports sedan Infiniti M. The new generation of the M is about 4mpg better in terms of fuel mileage than the 2010 released.

The new Infiniti M will have two engine variants. There will be a V-6 3.7L and a V-8 5.6L powerplants, each of which will be more powerful than the previous engines installed on the Infiniti M.

2011 Infiniti M 56

The fuel mileage is recorded at 25 mpg while on the highway and 16 mpg during city driving. The car is 4mpg more efficient that the M45 while cruising on the highway. There is also an M56x variant which is 2mpg better than the older version.

The V-6 engine of the 2011 Infiniti M37 will give out about 330 hp and a torque of 270 lb-ft. It is also a good improvement of 27 hp and 8 lb-ft from the M45. The new M37 will hit the fuel mileage of 26 mpg while on the highway and 18 mpg while snaking along city streets.

Car enthusiasts first saw the Arash AF-10 as a prototype that took the spotlight during the London Motor Show three years ago. After the company has undergone several reshuffles, they finally reveal the production trim of the Arash AF-10 as their first supercar.

The AF-10 is designed to perform well on the road without hurting the pocket too much of those who want to be in control of the steering wheel. This supercar from Arash is expected to have a sticker price starting at $534,000.

The Arash AF-10 was designed to steal a chunk from the sales of other supercar manufacturers, at least the small time producers like Pagani and Koenigsegg. It will also test the grounds against main players like the Ferrari and Lamborghini.

The body of the AF-10 is made mostly from carbon fiber which explains why it tips the scales at only 2,645 pounds. It is about 353 pounds lighter than the Ferrari Enzo and by 1,102 pounds compared to the SLR McLaren of Mercedes-Benz.

The powerplant under its carbon-fiber hood is derived from the DNAs of the 7.0L V8 engine of the Corvette Z06. Owners can expect an amazing output of 550 horsepower and about 465 lb-ft of torque. The power of the engine is transferred to the rear wheels by a six speed Graziano gearbox.

Aresh also plans to release a supercharged version of the AF-10 and it will be aptly tagged as the AF-10S. This variant will set the bar at 800 horsepower and whopping torque of 553 lb-ft. There are also plans to build a more aggressive 1001 horsepower unit.

The first run of the AF-10 will see 70 cars rolling off their assembly line.

Ferrari will be releasing a special edition of the 599 GTB Fiorano that is equipped with the Handling Grand Turismo Evoluzione or HGTE Package. This short and very exclusive run will only make less than twelve units of this special prancing horse. It will go by the name 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE China Limited Edition and were produced with the help of famous Chinese artisan Lu Hao. This car looks a lot different than the one Michael Schumacher tested on its release – but it’ll have basicly the same characteristics.

The limited edition vehicle will come in two-tone paint scheme which will have red paint and a gray top. The Chinese artist will imprint the character Xiao Zhuan on the car’s plate and mark the start button and the rev counter with the same character.

Lu Hao also made a special unit which features a pattern similar to the Ge Liln porcelain used during the Song Dynasty. This one unit uses jade for its starter button. It also sports the signature of the artist. This very limited edition of the 599 GTB Fiorano will be auctioned in Beijing during the charity gala sponsored by Ferrari. Proceeds from this auction will be used to fund the schooling of Chinese students interested in engineering.

The HGTE package is engineered to provide a more dynamic and more dynamic driving experience. The set up includes stiffer springs, new calibration for the shocks, and anti roll bars. The height of the ride is also made lower to adjust the center of gravity of the design. The tires of the vehicle also use compounds which improves the grip of the tires.

Hennessey Performance Engineering gives the car industry a preview of what is to come as they share some information about the performance concept car the Venom GT before its reveal at the 2010 auto show in Geneva.

The concept of Venom GT was made known to the public in 2007 but the car had to go through several revisions on the drawing board. We can assume that the designers and engineers of the Venom GT are now satisfied and it seems the car they plan to build will be a speed demon.

It will be a monster as Hennessey engineers are planning to put a 1200 horsepower V8 engine in a chassis lighter than 2400 pounds. Given that idea, 0 to 60mph may just be a wink of 2.4 seconds while 0 to 100 mph will be at a lightning 5.3 seconds.

The top speed for the Venom GT can be expected to hit 272 mph. It will take the car 20 seconds to complete a 0 to 200 mph to 0 task.

The handling also looks promising looking at the mid engine configuration, rear drive setup, moving rear wing, and its low ride profile. A picture of how the air flows around the car is creating a buzz in the four corners of the internet.

The Venom GT seems to be based on the Lotus Exige when you look at the similarities but the Venom GT can hold its own ground in terms of looks and definitely performance.

If you own a sports car and you want to adjust its settings so you can make the most out of it, you most likely will hire a tuning company or grease your hands up if you are do-it-yourself kind of guy. Spanish company, IFR Automotive is working on a new technology which will allow drivers to adjust the settings of their car without having to turn a screw or a bolt.

IFR Automotive is designing the system particularly for high end sports cars which by pressing some buttons, the driver can play with the ECU, the throttle, suspension settings among others.

You might have heard the name of the company recently since IFR revealed their Aspid Sports car. The architecture of their project revolves around an enclosed cockpit and lightweight composite paneling with semi-open layout for the wheels.

What they are developing though is not an innovation of what we see on the M5 of the BMW which allows adjustment of Track, Sport, Comfort are allowed. The technology they are developing permits fine car tuning to the degree that they need for their driving.

IFR is hoping that it will really be a feasible future where a touch panel will allow drivers to calibrate their suspension and other set up from their seats without having to resort to complicated devices or toolkits. It will be like a video game where you can save the settings for a particular track like the Nurburgring and then saving it so you can use the set up in the future.

A number of car manufacturers have expressed their interest with the technology. It will not be for our everyday car but for the high end vehicles. It is still in the drawing boards but as long as it gets approved for roll out, IFR might use it for their next sports car or for the speed monsters of other brands.

Last Thursday night, Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) spent a few hours of deliberation at Enstone headquarters near Renault. After a few hours, the FOTA bosses announced to the FIA and other right holders about their commitment till the end of 2012.

Despite their commitment, FOTA made known that most of the concerns raised by the majority of the teams have been set aside and ignored. FOTA will not bend the long-time values of the sport. They also refuse to revise the provisional entries they made for the 2010 World Championship.

In addition to these, the commercial rights holders have been holding millions of dollars from several F1 teams since 2006.

FOTA confirmed that they are preparing for a brand new Championship, one that will reflect the fundamental values of the sports, the participants, and the partners. The said series will have a single set of rules, transparent governance, relative lower prices for the fans and spectators around the world, as well as the stakeholders and event partners.

Moreover, the sports’ most renowned drivers, brands, sponsors, promoters, and partners will all be included in the new series.

While FOTA’s plans of a new series are still in the works, only BMW, Renault, Toyota, Brawn and McLaren have listed on the FIA list for the 2010 F1 season. Red Bull’s two teams, as well as famed Ferarri, are said to follow the present agreements.

Alfa Romeo’s 8C Competizione is a car to drool for wherever you look at it. A recent update also reveals that a Spider Convertible will be ready for delivery to the United States by January 2010. Talking about exclusivity, Alfa Romeo will only produce 500 units of 8C Spider like what they did to the hard top sibling.

It might be a long shot to get our hands behind the wheels of this car. The 8C Spider has a sticker price of $299,000 that includes shipping cost. Yes, you read it correctly and the tag price just makes the 8C Spider the most expensive car that ever rolled off Alfa Romeo’s car plant. It might keep the status for a while.

The 8C Competizione and the 8C Spider comes to life in Modena, Italy and shares mechanical platform with the Maserati Granturismo. The force that pushes you back the seat comes from a V8 4.7L power plant that at 7000 RPM can output 450hp.

The powerful engine is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox equipped with self shift technology controlled by computer guided shift levers near the steering wheeling. It also has a differential unit that is self blocking.

Alfa Romeo aside from making sure that you get the power and speed you want also ensured that you can stop the car when you want. The 8C Spider has the best Brembo brakes in the market installed on its 20 inch wheels. Carbon ceramic 380mm and 360 mm brakes are installed on the front and back, respectively. The Spider maximizes safety technology with the VDC stability and traction system.

The car industry might be in a surprise for next year as Alfa Romeo celebrates its 100th year in the business. There is a loud buzz that ther will be a high performance sibling of the 8C in the works. Only 100 units may come off their garage for this unless there will also be a GTA variant of the 8C Spider.
